Marc Le Rest

Huiles sur bois

Biography/ Biographie

Born on the edges of Armorica in 1969, Marc Le Rest early gives up an ecclesiastic career to dedicate his life to applied arts and feminine lingerie in Paris.

Yet, he leaves the capital to go to New York where he becomes a garden gnomes creator that he later leaves to their decorative purpose to join the everyday life of the drug cartels in Mexico, before leaving again but this time for Bollywood and try to make it the Indian cinema industry. In vain. He then retreat to an Angel Bay and shamelessly gives himself to his natural liking towards scabrous old women and lilliputian geishas, to whom he dedicated three illustrated publications. However, he is forced to leave his seaside retirement and flees in the Monts d’Arrée where he escorts the dead bodies for their last trip. That is when, hit by a strange compulsion, he attires chimpanzee and other innocent monkeys in lace and feathers.

In the same lifetime, Marc Le Rest contributed as a textile designer to the collection of Hermès, Armani, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Sonia Rykiel and Etro in Europe, as well as collections from the most reputed furniture fabric companies in the United States.
