BIOGRAPHIE

When he began his career very early in the boilermaking industry, it never occurred to Marc NAVE that one day he could share his passion for metal through his artworks. Nor did he ever imagine that he could glorify the artistic aspect of this basic element. While boiler-work makes up his daily grind, it dawned on him very quickly that he had a wealth of knowledge and a multitude of possibilities to draw upon to explore this domain, thanks to his expertise.

Throughout his career and his encounters, Marc has enriched his skills while staying faithful to the ancient techniques of ironwork. Laying out, cutting out, hammering out, embossing - these are all key words in his work. Starting off in the exhibition « Bol d'art » allowed him to approach his own work through the eyes of strangers. The experience gave him the confidence that he still had more to say in his work.

The following year, in November 2018, he took part in the "Kiwi Art" exhibition which in turn encouraged him to explore areas other than that of bird sculptures. Music, for example, seemed an obvious subject when he revealed his very first destructured violin.

In May 2019, once again the “Bol d'Art" exhibition displayed Marc's work. There, he presented the series "Le Violon Dans Tous Ses États “ a veritable hommage to both the instrument and to one of its disciples, be he or she an unknown player or a famous and accomplished musician. During this display, he was recognised by the gallery "Myl'art" situated in the heart of Old Lille, which bestowed on him the award "Myl'art Gallery". Some of his work is still currently on display.

Now aged 54, Marc NAVE continues to develop metalwork through the world of stringed instruments

Marc Nave's art consists of devoting time to indulge his passion for metal. Every one of his works in the series " The Violin from all angles" is at once a vibrant homage to stringed instruments or to one of their devotees, should he or she be a simple nameless player or an accomplished and famous musician, but also to the artist's desire to bring to metal a purely artistic and utterly original dimension.
